His parents were Greeks who came to America from Western Macedonia. To be more precise, they ended up in New York after the Greek Civil War ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Little George was interested in science from an early age. His dream was to become a prominent scientist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was particularly interested in the process of regrowing a lizard&#8217;s lost tail and the workings of the human body. This allowed him to devote the next eight years to research. But the young man&#8217;s father&#8217;s dream was for his child to start a career as a practicing physician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_life-changing_offer\"><\/span>A life-changing offer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>However, George was soon contacted by businessman and doctor Leonard Schleifer. He was searching for talented people for his new biotechnology company. This organization was to look for neuroregenerative pathways to treat various neurodegenerative disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"New_stage\"><\/span>New stage<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>George was truly interested in this offer. In 1989, he became part of the company. It was later renamed Regeneron. During his work in this organization, George managed to do a lot for its development.
